NORTH WEST RUNNING AT ITS BEST!

 

Be prepared for cool and damp weather. Bring extra clothing to change into after the race.

 

Unique 15K and 30K Distances plus 5K

 

This race offers athletes an opportunity to move up from the 10K and Half Marathon distances to a new mid-distance standard, with full race support - - perfectly timed for athletes training for the Vancouver International Marathon/Half Marathon.

 

Race Timing

 

Chip Timed (electronic clip with a velcro strap that goes around your right ankle - a wire at the start/finish line "reads" your time at you cross.)

 

Location

 

Both races start and finish at the Water Slides area on Birch Bay-Lynden Road . The routes proceed south along Birch Bay to Birch Bay State Park and back. The 30K will then circle Birch Point between Birch Bay and Drayton Harbor.

 

Awards

 

Race trophies will be awarded for top 3 men and women in each race -- Master and Grand Masters as well. Ribbons for top 3 age-group winners. 

Age groups 15K: 14 & under,15-19,20-24,25-29,30-34,35-39,40-44,45-49,50-54,55-59,60-64,65-69,70-74,75+

Age groups 30K: 15 -19,20-24,25-29,30-34,35-39,40-44,45-49,50-54,55-59,60-64,65-69,70-74,75+

 

Medallions

 

15K and 30K finishers receive a unique medallion.

 

T-Shirts

 

5K receive a cotton t-shirt. Brooks Technical t-shirts are optional and can be ordered at time of registration. T-shirts must be ordered on or before March 15.

 

RACE PACKET PICKUP

 

Canadians may pick up at the White Rock Running Room

March 26 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM or race morning 6:30 - 8:00 AM

 

 

Day of Race Registration

 

Day of race registration is allowed but must be completed by 8:15 AM. Day of race registration opens at 6:30 AM.

 

Check-in and pre-registered packet pick up at race start/expo area 6:30 AM - 8:45 AM

                 30K Run 8:30 AM

                 15K Run/Walk 8:30 AM

                  5K Run/Walk 8:35 AM

Race courses USAT&F certified.

 

Aid stations will provided water, Gatorade hydration drink and Hammer gels every 3K.

 

Port-a-Potties or Public Washrooms every 3-4K

 

Post race food will include a wide variety of breads, Baker's Breakfast Cookies, oatmeal, fruits, chicken soup, hot chocolate and coffee.

 

Benefiting Girls on the Run

 

The race supports “Girls on the Run” -- promoting elementary and middle school girls self-esteem through running programs. This is a project of Whatcom Family YMCA.

 

Important Information

 

If you bring a dog you are responsible for scooping.

 

No children under 8 allowed.

 

Due to open roads no strollers or headphones allowed on course.
