Course

proudly serving Nuun on course

Views abound as the beautiful course is run along the shores of Birch Bay while the crisp sea air fills your lungs.

There will be aid stations on the course serving water, Clif Gels, and Nuun electrolyte drink.  15k runners will hit the aid stations at approximately 1.75, 3.75, 5.5, and 7.5 miles. 30k runners will hit aid stations at approximately 1.75, 3.75, 5.5, 7.5, 9.5, 11, 13, 15, and 16.5 miles.  There are no aid stations on the 5k course, but plenty of food and drink after you’re done running.

Club Challenge

Members of running clubs, here are the steps:

  • Both Canadian and US clubs can register (must be a member of an organized club)
  • Be sure to add yourself to your club before you complete your registration!
  • For US Clubs a 10% discount per member will apply, enter club name in Discount Code box at check-out (all caps, no spaces).  Clubs should contact the race to get their code set up.
  • If your team is not listed, email us to be added
  • Club Challenge results applies to 15K & 30K only

Plaque awarded to the highest ranking Club Score.

Points awarded for Age-Group Finishes in 15K and 30K only:

  • 10 Points for 1st in age group
  • 7 points for 2nd
  • 5 points for 3rd
  • 2 points for finishing (every club member can contribute to the score)

Awards

Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers, male and female, in the 5k, 15k, and 30k.  In addition, we will have prizes for the top one finisher, male and female, in each age group in the 5k, 15k and 30k.  Age groups are as follows below.  Please note that awards must be picked up in person at the race.

  • 12 & under (5k only), 18 & under, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34…. 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, etc

Orca Series Award

Those who complete any of our races (half marathon or longer) will be entered into our series standings. Points are calculated on a % of the winning time and numbers of races ran. Runners receive points based on their finishing time. Award prizes will given to the top 5 male and female finishers at the end of the year!

Schedule

7:00 to 8:30am: Race Day Packet Pickup

8:00am: 30k Start

8:30am: 15k start

9:00am: 5k start

1:00pm: All courses closed; any participants still out on the course are welcome to continue, however aid stations will be removed and finish line area dismantled.

Please note: In general, we do not pull anyone off a race course, as long as they are moving forward with determination, under their own power.  However, we reserve the right to remove any participants from the race course as needed, based upon weather conditions, assessment of the participant’s physical condition, and other reasons.

The Start and Finish Line are located at North Bay Christ the King Community Church.

4895 Birch Bay Lynden Rd, Blaine, WA 98230

FROM VANCOUVER, BC: Take Hwy 99 to Peace Arch Border Crossing. Drive south on I-5 to Exit 270 by Factory Outlet Stores. Turn right onto Birch Bay Lynden Road – 6K (3.8 miles) to Race Start. (36 miles from Vancouver, BC and 20 miles from Bellingham, WA)

FROM SEATTLE: Take I-5 North through Bellingham. Take Exit 270 toward Birch Bay-Lynden Road.  Then turn left onto Birch Bay Lynden Road and drive 4 miles.

Parking: We highly recommend carpooling as parking is limited at the Birch Bay Waterslides.
